This work is part of the "In The Element 2" Series
Stems off the first series, "In The Element" illustrating the concept of finding a playground in another element. Series two explores the the word "diatoms" which they are phytoplankton that produces more oxygen than trees. They are invisible to the naked eye, but Kris brings them to life for us. This artwork represents the symbiosis between the element that surrounds us, that also allows us to exist in their environment. Each surfer has an umbilical cord attached to a diatom. The astronaut who longs to be a part of the environment but cannot survive without the protective gear.
